Until now it was not possible. Italian companies now have a new opportunity for its own brand on the Internet.

In fact tomorrow 11/07/2012 you can record it domains with special characters including the long-awaited accented characters.

A choice for all owners of domains that it, not being able to use accented letters, have in the past registered their domain by altering its name to conform to the rules of the Italian Registry domains.

The technical name of the new type of domain it is Internationalized Domain Names (IDN).

So the possible characters for the choice of the domain name they will be:

  • ASCII: cifre (0-9), lettere (a-z) e trattino (-)
  • NON ASCII: à, â, ä, è, é, ê, ë, ì, î, ï, ò, ô, ö, ù, û, ü, æ, œ, ç, ÿ, β
